About Hypnosis


Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815) is credited with being the founder of modern hypnosis and James Braid renamed Mesmer's technique hypnotism in 1842. So, it's been around in many forms for hundreds of years.

There are many definitions of hypnosis, but simply put, it is a state of mind, not a tangible substance. What must be made clear is that hypnosis is not mind control! You will never do anything while in hypnosis that you wouldn't do in your daily waking life. You are always in control of what you say and do in the session.

Hypnosis can be very relaxing. Fifteen minutes of hypnosis is like 4 hours of rest for the body. How wonderful is that!

Hypnosis helps in the development of long-term behaviours that do away with old habits and beliefs. These old non-supporting ones are replaced with new, positive, supportive beliefs and behaviours. These new beliefs and behaviours are what help you attain your goals.

Hypnotherapy helps you deal with the reasons you started exhibiting a behaviour or condition (like smoking, weight gain, fear of flying or speaking in public). Understanding the emotional reasons underlying your actions can help you deal with them. What you know, you can change.
